Parknasilla – Leisure Centre Heat Pump Install

Complete refurbishment of the leisure centre plan room. Decommissioning of the existing LPG boiler plant and installation of split air source heat pumps with advance management system optimised for the leisure centre. All parts of the heating distribution system in the leisure centre has been  optimised to work efficiently with the ASHP plant. No work was required outside the LC plant room. The entire system has been online monitored and data logged. Used energy has been monitored for the entire plant room.

Energy savings are exceeding 80% in comparisons with original LPG running cost Further energy savings has been achieved by the following upgrades.

  • optimal running of AHU fan motors which reacts on the real air conditions in the pool hall (temperature, humidity, time of the day occupancy)
  • Optimisation of changing rooms AHU
  • Appropriate sizing of heating distribution pipework and circulation pumps.
  • Decommissioning shunt circulation pumps in the remote LPG gas plant room.

The entire plant room is futureproofed for next 15-20 Years.

  • 20 Meter swimming pool heated at 29˚C.
  • Dantherm pool hall energy efficient air handling units for Pool hall and changing rooms
  • 2 no. outdoor Jacuzzi heated at 37˚C
  • DHW for all showers and basins

Heat Pump System specs:

  • 5 × 35 kW inverter driven split heat pumps BA60iS
  • 1 × high temeprature AQ75ZHX for DHW heating and spa thermal beds
  • Integrated BMS for the entire plant room
  • Back up electric boiler controlled by heat pump controls
  • Desuperheaters for DHW heating
  • Dantherm AHU weather compensation for maximum heat pump efficiencies and minimised heat waste trough air circulation.

On this Project MasterTherm also worked alongside https://www.danthermgroup.com/en-gb to design ideal AHU systems optimised to work with MasterTherm heat pumps.
This Project was Designed and Project Managed with Tim O’Leary of BSPM Energy and Padraig Broderick of Broderick design services.
